Just wondering when people are planning on going down? I was reading something about a test and tune the weekend before which might be nice to get familiar with the surface and what not. Neal, I think you said STU would be running thurs/fri but I couldn't find anything regarding run groups/days.

I'm wondering bc I might be able to just take the whole week off.

I'm running on Thursday/Friday and planning on being there probably Tuesday. There is a limited TNT on Wednesday which I'll be at as well. The larger opportunity for TNT is at the MidDiv later this month.

Run groups are listed here:http://scca.com/eventitems.aspx?item=286&event=13555&hub=3

I certainly hope you can make it happen.

Going down for the full week is a lot of fun if you can swing it. Definitely worthwhile.

For your first time I'd recommend getting their Tues night (leave after work) or at least as early in the day Wed as possible if you don't want to take the whole week off. That's what I usually do since it's hard to take a whole week.

You could come Wed night/Thurs morning but that's more for old Pro's like Adam Ansorge to do.

Brandon

This is my first nationals and I am heading down Tuesday morning. Try to get the T&T in on Wednesday. I am now staying with Mark M. and Mark Y. in the motorhome again, so Steve G. has an open spot in his hotel room.

Yep, Larry bailed, so we have some open floor space in the hotel room. We're in the Holiday Inn downtown - right next to the SCCA awards banquet & lots of other stuff.

A lot easier to be ready for Thursday-Friday if you've had Wednesday to get teched (without rushing) and to see how Nationals run.

Hope you can make it, Brandon!

It was very helpful to get there early the day before you run to get organized. But, if you can swing it, take the whole week off! On my only trip down, I ran Tue/Wed and stuck around Thursday AM for the first runs of the Thu/Fri group. Really wish I'd have been able to stick around and support the rest of the club.

You definitely will not regret it.

I may try it this year too, only skipping all autocrosses prior to Nationals. :D

Not recommended however; its tough going into Day 1 Nationals not having walked the course the day before. As a teacher, I only get two personal days per year. Every year I have done better on day two as a result of this. This year, if I were to run Tuesday/Wednesday, I could get there early enough to do course walks on Monday due to labor day. What a luxury that would be!

We would love to, but we aren't sure if we will have that luxury. Pat is looking into it... otherwise we will be staying downtown somewhere.

Seriously, you should definitely jump in someone's car for a co-drive. It would be a blast!

It's not in Nebraska. ;)

I'm not a great driver and as such, it doesn't really matter what I drive. If I go, it'll be to support MAC. The pain / benefit ratio is much better if I arrive and drive someone else's car. Milwaukee was great like that.

I guess all that time hanging around forums counts for something.

I have two BSP and an FP S2000 co-drive on the table. AS co-drive may be pending.

Then there is always the temptation to just bring my own dang car down....

Anybody want to drive our car (1989 Civic Si Team Undercoat Racing) at nationals?

The car is a past nationals winner and 2nd last year. It is capable of winning in all classes listed.

we are looking for co-drivers in STX, STXL and STL.

Terms negotiable please send me a PM

Hey Craig, how much are you paying?

And do you have to pay extra to get matching wheels?

Lastly, is the co-driver responsible for bringing their own steering wheel?

(gawd...I crack me up!)

In all seriousness, if you're looking for a ride, you won't find a car that has more pedigree. Remember: The STX and ST PAX is this much |<--->| apart, so this car is 100% competitive in STX.

(don't forget, the Wrolson Wracing BMW is actually an ST-legal car with a diff and slightly wider tires...neither of which have been shown to help the Civic anyway...)

I'll probably book at the Embassy Suites. If anyone is looking to share a room, shoot me a PM.

AS runs later in the week, but probably coming a little early to support MAC and do some TnT.

Also probably looking to hitch a ride to and from Lincoln. Either from Rochester, MNpolis, or along the route (Albert Lea). If looking for someone to split the drive and gas costs, PM me.

Gah. I shouldn't have cancelled my previous reservation.

I probably would have run into more problems if I tried to include a weekend day.

Don't blow this thing, make sure to sign up by 4 pm friday or the price goes up!

From Nancy Downing at the SCCA

The early entry fee of $135 ends this Friday, August 14 at 4 PM CDT. After that time the regular fee of $270 kicks in.

stuff I liked:

Site is large enough to have two premier courses AND a 45 second Test and Tune course that will be available for most of the event (see website for schedule details)

The two courses, along with the Test and Tune course were set up and tested in late June. The test car was a C-Stock Miata driven by Howard Duncan, where he turned times in the low 60’s while touching the rev limiter at least once on each course. Gate width ranged generally from 25’ to 40’, so there is plenty of room for all types of cars to enjoy the challenge.

see you all there,
Craig M.

We just stayed there this past weekend. Pretty darn decent. Very clean, and in good shape. no amenities, like breakfast, pools, and stuff, but for the price it was very good! (No couch, but room for one floor mattress.) 4 people was tight, 3 would be good.

Sweet. i've had reservations booked there since like, may.
as pat said, it's pretty damn decent for the price. if you booked a double queen, there won't be a couch, a single king will have a couch.

will fit 3 well... 4 gets tight... had to shove some things around to really get it to fit. Still, price is right, and the fridge will be nice to have over a week.
