Chris is going too. Chris mentioned that it is best to stay in Lincoln rather than close to LAP. Other than that I know nothing about the hotels.

The TnT is on a per car basis rather than per person, BTW. It is $95 per car. It is run by the folks at Evolution Performanc Driving School and registration is via their site rather than the LAP site.

I'm definitely going. We want to be staying at the Embassy Suites in downtown Lincoln. (Haymarket area) Cost isn't bad at all when you pile 4 people into a room and factor in the free evening drinks and omelette's for breakfast.

Downtown Lincoln is what's call the "Haymarket". It's close the university and has lots of restaurants, pubs, etc. - a very fun place to be and everything looks to be within walking distance. And it's only about 10 minutes from LAP. Not too many downsides as far as we could find.

We stayed at the Super8 south of the airport earlier this year. It was fine, 5 mins from Haymarket, about the same distance from the site. $45/night

"Tomorrow (Aug 18th at 11pm) is the last day to register for the Midiv Championships in Lincoln NE, on August 22-23. All late fees have been waived in hopes of a last minute surge of entries. So you're running out of time to participate in the fun. Don't hesitate any longer.

TnT was fun, lots of runs, and a couple of BMWs running... and running... and running...

We got the 330 running close enough to Darryl's car that we decided not to abandon it, at least for MidDivs. ;)

After day 1, MAC folks are leading AS, BS, BSL, and ST, as far as I know. Josh is sitting in 3rd in STX, .2 behind Jon Simmons, .8 behind Conant. Jay and Chris are 3-4 in STS, looking pretty solid.

I'm... well, I'm getting beat by shane. This will not last long. Shane in 6th, me 7th, I think Lee is in 8th. (of 13 in STX)

Heat 1 just got done Katie held on for the win in BSL with Debbie Kerswell in second by only three thousandths. I moved up to third by only six thousandths. So 1-2-3 was within a tenth! Very fun!

Josh B dropped one spot to 4th in STX Shane was in 5th, murph ended up in 8th, and Lee was somewhere after that... I didn't see him to ask.

I think Jay ended up in 2nd in STS. Not sure where Larry, Chris B or Andrew ended up.

Biggest news of the morning would be Nikki D. Taking the win in DSL against two seasoned vets!! She had a bit of a frantic morning, but still pulled out a more than half a second lead!!! Awesome!

More to come!

BTW, anyone coming to Nat's or any other event here... Bring a Nike and a camera. Watching Blackhawks practice high speed landings on Friday was AWESOME!!! :)

More news for Heat 1:
STS: Jay and Chris were in the 2nd and 3rd Trophy spots. Andrew ended up in 6th and Larry in 8th.

STX, Lee came in right behind Murph in 9th

Heat 2
ST results: Pat W took the top spot by over a second. Chris D in 5th.

XP results: Sean F took the last trophy spot in 3rd. Brian ended up in 5th.

Heat 3
BS results: Neal Held on to his lead of over half a second. Ivan took the last trophy spot (3rd) behind IA's Mike Bronson.

DS results: Matt Dahlman took the second place trophy.

HA results: Todd Freeman ended up in 5th behind the four guys mentioned in Sportscar mag's "Pick the Winners" article.

Hopefully I got everyone. Todd C is running right now trying to hold on to yesterdays lead. You'll all have to wait for his results cuz we are packing up and heading out!

We just got home. What a weekend! It was quite the learning experience, and a lot of fun. I'm really glad that we went to this Divisional before going to Nationals. There was a lot we didn't know about these kind of events, but our MAC "family" was there to help us through it. :D

This morning started off great. We got ready quickly and headed down to the hotel's free breakfast. It was only 7:00 so we relaxed and ate and worried that Jay, Larry, Andrew and Chris would be late to the event since we didn't see them yet. We strolled into our room around 7:40 and looked over the packet we got at registration and discovered that the first car was going to be sent out at 8:00!!!:bigeyes::bigeyes: ...and I was running in the first heat.

We didn't realize that the schedule would be different on the second day. Miraculously we made it to the site around 7:50, but still needed to unload the car and change the wheels. Matt began throwing things out if the car, "You're going to have to change the wheels! They're calling for workers right now! I hope you make it! Maybe someone will walk by and help you!"

Just when I thought I was going to cry, Brian, Sean, and Todd C. ran over and helped me out. They were awesome! I made it to grid with enough time to check my tire pressures-- that's when I realized I had the fronts (225s) on one side and the rears (205s) on the other side. whoops.:0nonono:
So I ran my first run like that and the superstar trio swooped in again between my runs to help switch the wheels around. After that I dropped 4 seconds and took 1st place!

We have some great people in our club. Just about everyone who made the trip to Lincoln helped us in one way or another. I'm really proud to be a part of this club and I'm really excited for Nationals!! :ibanana:

Unfortunately, Chris coned away the third place trophy in ST. Partially....I think....due to anyone's failure to let Chris know he hit a cone on his first run, which everyone thought was clean. The announcer didn't say anything, (other than repeating that he was in third place) I watched the run and didn't see anything, so we all thought it was clean. As Chris lined up for his third run...thinking he had already moved up to third....he watched his only rival for that spot hit a cone right in front of him. He thought he was locked in, and went out to do a fun, fast "victory lap". Tagged a cone. Would he have done that if he had known he needed a clean run? Who knows, but he never go the chance.

Here's the lesson for all the new folks, and veterans that may need reminding: At Nationals, they are *required* to post corner sheets after each run. You have the right to see exactly which cone you hit *before* doing your next run. I strongly recommend checking these corner sheets after each run. No one is required to tell you if you hit a cone, and announcers are sometimes wrong...the information's all there though. Also, when they bring printed results to impound, check all your times for accuracy. That's your only chance to speak up if your time or penalty is wrong.

We had a great weekend, got the thing dialed in mo better, and are looking forward to Nats!!! Congrats to everyone who made it from MAC, not just the trophy winners. It's always more fun when friends are around!!! Especially ones that give me beer for beer walks!!

(BTW, I have all the "trophies")

G. Jay

Well that was a lot of fun. It was run like a National's event I'm told and it was nice to get a rehearsal in so to speak. The best part was having so much MAC there. Chris and I roomed with Andrew and Larry in a nice hotel down town and had a great time. Thank you to those guys and every MAC person there for helping make it a great event. (Ask Andrew about the "Naughty Girls")

Every Miata in STS was from MAC with the other four drivers in Honda CRX's. We were going to see what it was like to run against the so called STS spec car, some driven by former champs and noted drivers.

Chris has gotten the car working very very well and now we need to step up. Saturday's course was a bit tighter and seemed quirky during the course walk. In the end I thought it actually flowed well (others didn't agree). It drove a lot like a series of long kinked slaloms linked by boxes. Chris and I drove well enough to be sitting fourth and third respectively, ~.4s and .7s behind the leading Tim Heron.

Sunday's course was quite sweeper intensive. Imagine ten skid pads linked by angled gates and two slaloms. I walked it about six times. I concluded that it was not possible to read and would need to learn to look ahead and read on the fly. (FYI looking ahead is not my strong suite, noticing the bug splat on my bumper is. I was told this several times by an instructor and MAC friends. I'm working on it and appreciate being reminded).

It ended up that my first run went very well. We were in the first heat playing course sweepers but as the second driver I was in better shape and had warmed tires (thanks Chris :D). Between the walks, a little peak ahead once in a while and a little luck I put down a potential keeper right away. When I got back to grid Chris said something like "What the **** was that, are you trying to win or something". Any way it was encouraging. I was shaking with nerves but that took some pressure off.

Second run was a bit better but ended with a car sideways in front of me in the exit lane some 80-100 ft after the finish. I got no red flag and avoided the stalled car but I was offered a re-run. It was a class leading time for the day but not enough to make up the deficit to Heron so I took the re-run. I never went that quick again :flame: though I still got the quickest STS time of the day on the re-run! :rockon Third run went a little slower because of a bit of drifting on one sweeper. Oh what could have been. Overall I'm pleased with my driving for the event and the car is fantastic. Chris drove very well too, cutting time every run and staying clean and ended up right on my heals.

In the end Tim, I and Chris rose above the rest of the field and finished in that order to add a couple trophies to the MAC case. We were competitive against some good talent and are feeling more comfortable about Nationals.

Oh, the lot. Good grip, just a little rough and endlessly large. Fantastic site. I hope we can stay there for a very long time.

If I had known I was standing on two dirty runs, my 3rd run would have been very different, knowing I only needed a "decent" run to take 3rd place. But as Pat mentioned, my time slip said my first run was clean, the announcer said it, announced me in 3rd place the whole heat, and it wasn't until we saw the results in impound that I realized I had coned away the day.

The morale of this story is take nothing for granted. I could have slowed down and put in a 62.0 clean and took 3rd. Instead I went for the gold and put in a dirty 60.8.... only because I didn't think it mattered. Well, as it turns out, every run counts!!!

All that aside, Pat kicked a$$, found his mojo, and we are ready for nationals.

no doubt! Last year, first day @ nat's and the first timeslip they gave me put me ~6 seconds back- because the display was f'ed up. (In reality, I was ~2 seconds out.) That messed w/ my mindset for the last couple of runs. impossible to know how it mattered in the end- surely not enough to get into the trophys! live and learn

Dang... saddest point of my whole weekend caught in slo-mo! This was on day 1, at the end of the short slalom. This is the answer to the question, "What happens if you take the slalom flat-footed, and don't slow down enough for the next corner?" The answer is you powerslide through a double cone.

JCN, you should talk w/ Slinkard (guy who owns that XP S2K) he's a wealth of knowledge and experience on all things Honda. he's done a lot of development work w/ that car obviously too.

I'd love to. Do you know his contact information?
