So, I see a record number of drivers in Street Tire this weekend - 41 entries on Saturday and 40 on Sunday. Lots of sticky-tire drivers on street tires for the first two events. Will Adam & Todd put the hurt on all the poachers? Should be good fun! 8)

I'm still pretty ashamed of my driving at the novice school and It'll probably take me an event or 2 to shake all my winter rust off. At least the weather is supposed to be nice. The bad habits I learned this winter definitely shined through last weekend in the rain; RWD with a very quick throttle response is going to take a little adapting again after 6 months of quattro and turbo lag :D
very excited for all of the competition though! It made things amazingly fun at the canterbury events last year with so many people close to the top, I'm really looking forward to it!

Novice school? Didn't you win the index class last year?

Novice school? Didn't you win the index class last year? That's the embarrassing part, I was supposed to be an instructor, but during my instructional runs at lunch I was pretty uncomfortable in the car and even spun out once. A few of the novices were running quite a bit faster than me in the afternoon, an AStock evo driver would have paxxed me by about a second:(
anyway, changing the subject

I'm feeling pretty good this year.
We actually took the car out of the garage last weekend...
...as opposed to the morning of MOWOG 1 like we did last year.
Now all we need is a battery.
Yep, I'm feeling confident.

Going from an XP car on 10" wide Hoosiers to an HS car on street tires should be an interesting change. I might bring a magazine along to read between corners. :p ;)

That's how I felt going from the ST Civic to the Acura TL at the novice school during instructor runs. At one point during the course I actually remember adjusting the speed of the intermittent wipers.

Been doing a little "playing" on the street, gettting used to them, they "feel" as good as the Hoosier's, not that I smoked them at all.
and I see the XS won the GrassRoots Motorsports magazine tire shootout

Yup, they will also be retesting the RE-11 and XS against the Yokos and Toyo 225 size in the Aug. mag. Kooks were not avalible for testing at the time.

What's with all the XP guys going street tire for M1 & M2? Afraid of "the shredder" (valleyfair lot)?

Severely sprained (maybe fractured) ankle for me. Avoiding the tire shredder is a side benefit.

Ouch! Sorry to hear it Steve, are you going to do the patented Pat Washburn cripple golf cart coursewalk?

Well I'll tell you this right now. It won't be me.HEHE With no mods and just street tires the 4000 pound pig will be fun to drive. (street tires might last more then 2 events unlike the race tires).

lol, Josh you're in a car that's *supposed* to be on street tires! If you PAX lower than 25 I'll be surprised. =]
I'll be running in ST again this year. I haven't been to an event since last June, so I'll be battling Dan and Josh for 145th in PAX.

This is supposed to be a trash talk thread. It's no fun if you guys/gals trash talk yourselves. Since your all aiming low, that should put me top 20 right? 8)

Pikers.
I'm running the same Dunlop tractor tires as last year in the Seven because I didn't get the suspension upgrades done (parts-procurement issues). Not that it affects PAX, but I will be running in regular DM for season points. If I don't PAX dead-last at the events this weekend it will be a miracle.
If anything happens so I don't get the seven out, I will be in a stock Miata on street tires in regular DM. Same story.

A mini on Kumho XS? I'd think you have a shot at taking street tire index.

But so do half a dozen other folks. Todd, Adam,... I was going to list a few but looking at the entry list, there are so many it's just depressing. Street tire is going to be an awesome place to be able to compare your driving with a lot of good drivers.
40 people? Who cares, I got my engine/turbo rebuilt, installed calibrated shocks, fresh rubber on 8lbs wheels and stock-legal crash bolts so that I have -3 degrees of camber! Noone can beat me!!!
Ok, kidding, I got none of those and blew my engine recently, so I'm on a junkyard special that won't boost properly, but I'm still hoping to trophy =)

Lets get back on topic here boys...
If a Newbee's Evo trashed you by 1 sec, then the Dark Lord's Evo needn't bother showing up for the event...
I'm feeling pretty good this year...
...Yep, I'm feeling confident.
Yep... you'll make it into the top 20 in street tire. Maybe I ought to bring MY Acura just to make it fair to all you girls...

Did Todd get me? Last I, knew I was announced as top Index and Todd's last run was slower than mine. Knowing my day, I could have hit a cone that got called late or something though...

Not exactly. I haven't scrubbed the final reports yet, but Ryan won. Quite a few drivers pulled out good runs in the afternoon, as Todd and I ended up 7th & 8th.
