PCA D/E this weekend at BIR might have something to do with that...

When I looke, 8 of 21 cars were Miata's. I'm in, but would much rather be in Alaska. Alaska and Hawaii are my two favorite states to visit. One in the summer and one in the winter, guess which is which :D

Alaska in the winter (for the good skiing of course) and Hawaii in the summer for the great surf? That would be my choices.

I'm in for the PCA event. Can't wait to stretch the legs on the car a bit. :rockon

With all due respect, you sir, are a fool :)
Alaska in the summer for the hiking, and you can still dive Hawaii in the winter, even though summer conditions are better.

I am also in!

This will be my first event after the novice school. Anyone have tips/things I should know about the venue?

Don't overcook it or you'll be into:
A. the fence on the right side.
B. the dirt and grass on the infield.
C. the ditch off the far side.

My advice, creep up on your limits rather than blazing past them. Give yourself a little extra braking distance on your first few runs if you're not familiar with your car's capabilities.

The narrow track and elevation changes can impact your lines / handling / braking more than you might realize starting out.

As another aside:

It's very similar to a full MAC event, but not entirely so.

Just an FYI for the new guys....

fewer cars, a bit more relaxed. The courses *may* be a bit more open and horsepower friendly to give the Vette/PCA guys a bit of an edge (Wally Mahlum in his ZO6 took FTD from me last year by a .10).

FTD = Fast Time of the Day

Team SaD racing will be there with the birZerkin.

Question: If it is similar to a full MAC event, how is it different from a partial MAC event?

Yes. PCA/COM has some loaner helmets.

Can we have helmeted passengers?
I belive the answer on this one is no.
i'm pretty sure both clubs operate under the Met-Council insurance, which is what restricts ride alongs.
