Edit: Advance registration for modern (1980 or newer) cars is SOLD OUT! Sorry. I still have room for vintage (1979 or older) cars as well as fully-prepped non-street-legal race cars, super cars, exotics, and karts.
I also still need two all-day corner workers. Anybody want a free lunch? :o)
***************************
This year's Healey Hillclimb is less than three weeks away and I would love to have drivers and corner workers from MAC.
PLEASE READ: I enjoy MAC events and have a lot of respect for MAC people, but it's important to remember that the hillclimb is NOT a MAC event. The culture is quite different. If you come to my hillclimb expecting the same culture as a MAC autocross, you will be disappointed. The main focus of the hillclimb is a fun social gathering while driving cars fast and safely up a hill. The pace of the day is MUCH slower than a MAC autocross. We stop driving during lunch to give corner workers a break and to socialize because we value that. There are no classes, trophies, or places. At the end of the day, everyone gets a paper certificate listing their own personal fastest time of day. Bragging rights are your only prize. Everyone might not get the same number of runs. Drivers can take a passenger on every run.
We use dedicated all-day corner workers. Logistically it is not feasible to have drivers be corner workers due to the layout of the course. Please consider being a corner worker if you would like to be close to the action but not drive. I treat my corner workers very well, with free refreshments and free lunch. Several MAC members can attest to this.

The free lunch for corner workers is not some wimpy box lunch or a piece of takeout pizza. It is an all-you-can-eat barbecue buffet with your choice of seating either inside or outside the building.
Drivers and spectators have to pay extra for this. In the past, it has been ten bucks.
I've been to most of these events and look forward to going again this year.
As a driver, you will find this very laid-back. You will have plenty of time to shoot pictures and hang out. See my pix at my Flickr site. You will see some very interesting cars that don't come to Mac events. It's worth the trip.
To keep the red mist down, they won't tell you your times until the end of the day, so don't bother asking. Put a wheel off the pavement, you become a spectator for the rest of the day. Hit two cones on the hill, you become a spectator for the rest of the day.
This is the only genuinely dangerous site used for autocross-style events hereabouts. Just don't be an idiot or try to be a hero on the hill and you will be fine.

In past years, I have participated as a volunteer and a driver, and it was top-notch fun.

How about the similar events at Amery airport? Same schtick: Tight autocross with a high-speed finish. This time the high-speed part is safer; flat and straight. Not as long as the late lamented Grand Rapids event where I easily did the ton with the TR4, but serious power cars will do the ton and much more. Same laid-back run pace. The Girl Scouts vend lunch.
Amery Speed Run V Saturday, June 20th (rain date Sunday, June 21st)
Amery Speed Run VI Saturday, August 22nd (rain date Sunday, August 23rd)
Shorter drive from Wausau.
Too bad the first one is the prime day of the Back to the Fifties...
I plan to be at the second one.

I am willing to pay $60.00 on top of the fee for anyone willing to give up their Hill Climb 80 and newer spot. For a total of $100.00

If no one wants to make $60.00 for just not showing up. I will be in a kart. Tom how many kart spots are available.

At this point the modern car spots are sold out and the roster will probably max out with vintage cars on the morning of the event, sorry. Still plenty of room for spectators and ride-alongs. Bring your helmet!

Thanks. I'll be waiting for them. I never bring a camera to Mowog events because I am too busy, but I usually get a few shots off at the hillclimb and Amery.

Sadly, I have since learned from a different source that Tom's Austin-Healey Sprite is unwell in the engine department. Better days ahead, I hope. In the meantime, he will continue to Evo.

I'm looking forward to it. It will probably be the lowest placing there for me since I drove Tom's Sprite, but fun nonetheless. With the Europa on stickies (even old ones) I was pretty confident, but with the tractor tires, I plan to motor SEDATELY up the hill.

I also really want to do this.
But I'm guessing that even if the A-H club is less formal then MAC when it comes to rules & competition, a car without floors is probably going to fail tech.
I'm going to stop by at least.

Spot for newer car still available. Chico offered $100, I said $50 would be enough. Anyone?

I will be in the Miata. The part that fell out of the Dellorto carb is locally unobtanium.

Sounds like a good excuse to switch the 7 over to digital fuel injection.

It was running like a million bucks last weekend. There must have been something wrong with the O-ring. Those screws usually don't move.

Thanks to everyone involved with the running of the hillclimb. It was my first go at this event and loved every minute of it. 6 runs and a great BBQ lunch goes a long way to making the day enjoyable. Too bad the sun only appeared at the end of the day.
Thanks Workers!!!

So that's where you were going! My brother and I were at Menards in Buffalo last night and saw you at the Kwik Trip with the Miata on the trailer. We figured you must have had a race somewhere.

It's definitely worth checking out the hillclimb, Very relaxed atmosphere and you only have to focus on the driving part. They have a radar gun near the top as well so it was interesting seeing your top speed.
