It depends on the weather. Ryan and I may drive over, if the weather forecast is dry and >60 degrees.

You're on street tires in a car with a top. What's weather got to do with it? I'm getting stir-crazy enough that I might drive the MINI over & run Street Tire if the weather is crappy.

I was thinking more in the way of tempature not rain. What the heck I am there except for snow.

You go to the pre registration page:

http://register.scca-milwaukee.org/

Log in, click on registration, then find the event you are interested in, then click "list entrants"

However unlike MAC, there is no real incentive for people to register early (it saves you 5 bucks and makes registration easier, but it's not like MAC where the events have low entry caps). So even 2 weeks before the event, you'll probably only see a handful of names. If you look right now, you'll see a few, and you'll also notice that Jason Frank is registered (his class is listed as P-ST). So to answer your question, "yes" the "heavies" will be there.

Speaking of, would this be the first outing for the "Mystery Machine" and will both co-heavies be driving it? It would be worth the drive just to see you guys run against Frank in this morphing Yugo.

That would be a very good assumption on your part. Although since we have never driven the morphing Yugo "a.k.a. the Polish Flyer" we have very low expectations running against the reigning national champion. Might not be worth the drive just for that... ;)

A little off topic but for those who are going out there on the 19th. I bought some wheels from our Polish friends to the east and it would be great if someone could bring them back across the state line for me. I will buy lunch or something for the transporter. It will be just 2 wheels and they should be light.

I can get them closer. Should have enough room.

Alternatively, I will be driving to Ohio to pick up a trailer this weekend, and may be able to pick them up on the return trip if it's not too far out of my way.

Driving back now. Very fun, fast course. The F500 worked very well with the new suspension parts. It was cool all day, but the rain held off until the afternoon.

I think Pat may have won the Pro class in the Yugo.

Yup, Pat pulled off a huge comeback in the rain. Finished #5 overall PAX, but #1 in Pro due to the AM+PM format. He had the best wet run probably of all Pro drivers in the afternoon, which was enough to jump from 5th to 1st. Huge victory, considering it was our first event in the car.

Thanks! Being ahead of the Borowskis is a miracle, but it was all rain. After the morning I was in 10th, just behind Hubert. But when the rains came, we were on full tread TOYOs which look and feel sort of like Hoosier wets. The level of grip these tires have in standing water is really amazing. My guess is the Borowskis (and many others) were still running on Hoosiers even in the rain, which explains my better than expected finish in Pro.

I was, however pretty pleased with the fact that I ended up 15th overall PAX after taking only 3 runs in the car (the PAX battle ended after the lunch break, when it started raining). I still felt like I was driving stupidly, lifting in all the wrong places and braking too much. Took a while for me to get used to a new car. But 15th is pretty respectable for me.

Pat, on the other hand, adjusted fairly quickly, which was to be expected. When he starts messing with the car setup, look out!

What a Blast!

Steve and I went into classing with the intent to cheery pick classes to leave early. Sure enough, they ended up have us work both heats. Otherwise STU would have been the class we ran instead of A-BSP.

Now to play the what if game just for my ego :)

If I took my fastest clean time on STU PAX instead of BSP, I would have taken 19th in PAX. If I wouldn't have hit those mystery cones on my 3rd run, my over 1 second improvement would have put me at 12th in PAX.

But I didn't and I wasn't Fun to think about though!

It was fun even with the weather, and a great shake down for the season. Can't wait for VF!

The "Team Polish Chicken (get the decal, Pat!)-Lucky Lugnut" Civic looks very formittable right out of the box. Those Toyos look to be outstanding.

Sure would have appreciated about another 15 or 20 minutes of dry--to at least get a dry run, but oh well...on th eother hand, Craig looks to have stumbled across a solution for our terminal looseness in his morning runs...so we did come away with something positive. Long story shot, "old" Z1s and Star Specs don't play well together--much different levels of grip...

Ahhhh...finally got the first event out of the way!!! What a great time, even with the cold and rain. Milwaukee Region has a new bus...what a sweet ride!!! Very high class.

Glad there where no big "oh crap, this is not good" moments in the car. Everything was pretty good right out of the box. Considering we don't have a very aggressive alignment, and were on full tread tires that we have no clue on as far as pressures go, I am pretty happy. My only complaint was that the brakes are a little grabby...something I usually like, but with the lightness of this car, it was a small problem that I think we can drive around for now. Just have to learn to drive the thing more....still have lot's of Evo habits to break.

I'm disappointed about the dry runs...about .7 back from the Franks mobile, but I think we will make that up in alignment tweaks, and some other top secret goodies we have on the way. Jury is still out on the tires...time will tell. More seat time too. Despite Jason telling me he is not afraid of Toyo's in the wet, I think they out performed the RE11's. Very good full tread wet tire option.

Chris did great! His rain time was only one second off mine, which I thought was awesome. Moving from the Type R is going to be a great thing....with some more time and events, I expect Chris's average finish to be *much* higher this year.

The Alex's looked great in the FM car! That thing turns, and Alex #1 said it was handling fantastic. Alex #2 did a fantastic job in his first outing in a Mod car...no easy thing. They toughed out the rain too!

Mikey looked pretty racey too! Considering the prep level of the old Deutsch car, you did a great job. Steve was grinning too, so you guys got a nice optional car there. Charles? Don't know how he responded to the intensive Windscreen training he got on Saturday....because he slept in and went home!!!!! Ha, ha...just giving him crap. He had a long day at the Mil Novice school, and got planty of seat time in already. Oh, and thanks Charles!!

Great start to the year, and looking forward to MOWOG 1 and 2.

Haha! I was pretty wrecked from stuff at work and driving in late to Milwaukee. I wish I had run with you guys on Sunday. I woke up and there was no rain and I thought: :flame::flame::flame:

But probably was for the best. Got to sleep in, hang out with the wifey, and changed the neighbor's Civic spark plugs.

I learned so much on Saturday with Steve and hadn't had a chance to digest it all. Wanted to review vids and datalogs before stepping into the next event.

I still wish I had run on Sunday. Next time!

Considering the $100 rebate Bridgestone has out, and my limited skill level that probably doesn't justify spending the extra $, I'm very inclined to pull the trigger on the RE-11s by May 4.

If I'm feeling experimental, maybe I'll pick up a pair of 225/45ZR16 Toyos for the SSRs later on in the season...

After talking to some other drivers in Milwaukee, do you have an idea as to which tire will be better in an unshaved condition?

I think they will both suffer some from not being shaved. Lots of void area that disappears when shaved. How big a difference? Who knows...no one has tested yet. I don't think it's huge though. I will say the R1R's handle lots of rain very well when full tread. If I were you, I would not worry about shaving.

Is his sense of civic duty running on all cylinders now?

 Maybe. But I know mine is. He's a nice kid and busy with a new baby and school. He snowblows our driveway sometimes when I'm too busy to get to it right away.

His Civic threw a code and he asked if I knew a good mechanic around town. I know he doesn't have the money to fix things right now. So he left me the keys when he went out of town. Long story short, he had a cylinder #2 misfire code that was due to worn plugs (gap was 0.09!!) and the #2 plug was a few turns loose.

Hit up the NAPA and picked up plugs for $1.50 each. Filled up his tires (was at 22psi) and oil (barely even registered on the dipstick). The whole thing took me under an hour. I want to see his face when he unleashes the fury of the whole 98 hp.

Haha, never thought I'd hear the phrase "shortage of Polish flags" said about this car.

Personally, I probably wouldn't have gone any faster because I was just getting used to driving a different car. Compared to the ITR, the brakes kept locking up and I'm not used to having camber. Also I just haven't driven many cars other than the ITR in an autox setting, so changing cars was a bit of a shock for me.

With shaved Toyos I'm sure Pat would have been faster... but we don't know how much faster yet. We're not married to Toyo yet either, we will probably pick up a set of RE011s also and test 'em out too....

You ain't seen nothin yet, thinking of putting the Polish Chicken on the roof. I'll be Bandit.

As far as the tires, I hope so...we need to be faster in the dry to keep up, but I don't know how much of that was just never having driven the car before. I'm guessing these tires will get faster with shaving...the only time I could tell they weren't shaved was the few times the back stepped out and it kinda felt squishy. Need to loosen the car up more I think. We'll know a lot more after we do some testing in May. Good to see you guys again!
