View Full Version : Minneapolis MN Cars & Cafe, Saturday April 4th.
Hey guys,
It's getting to be that time of the year again. Last year, we decided to have our first event in April, and hopefully the weather will cooperate with us to do it again this year.
Our last event in October of last year brought out over 250 cars plus hundreds of other spectator cars.
As those of you have attended know, this event brings out the best and most rare cars in MN and WI.

So is there any qualification to have your car on display as opposed to being reduced to the spectator area?

Exotic unless you have a fiat then you don't make to the event at all!
Hey guys,
The event is 8-11.
Looks like it's not going to rain untill at least 3pm, so we will be just fine for our show tomorrow. See you guys in the morning!!

I do not see any Korean parking! What gives???
I would bring the P car out but it doesn't run, and the odds of me finding people to push it that far are pretty slim.

He must've forgotten to say that general parking also doubles for Korean cars. :p ;)

I plan on going. I'm also probably going to the Orr open house afterward. Hope to see a few of you guys there.
What a great turnout. We had at least 200 cars there despite the fact that it was 35 degrees when we got started in the morning. Lots of new cars & faces. The open house at Orr Autosport and the swap meet at SCI were both great events afterwards as well. Thanks to all of you that made it out and I am really looking forward to May when we will have some great weather and a cool "after party" at Imola Motorsports.
Thanks again guys!

^ That was a nice pulsar! did you just bought it or are you still selling it. I remember I saw this one on craigslist, but it was for sale in Bloomington, I think :)
It was a surprisingly large turnout for the cold weather and all, it was my first time coming to the one at this location, I was impressed, it is a pretty neat place!
I also got to overhear some unwelcoming comments about my car and a few others, but oh well :)

^ whaaat? I liked your car! The black 3 spoke saab right? It sounded nice! I do got to say that R8s where like honda civics there! So many of them lol
Eh, its a very unassuming car. The guy just assumed it was slow and had no business having a harness or being there, "bla, bla, bla, that couldn't keep up with most of the cars here, bla, bla, bla." The sort of thing someone says to feel better about them self when they feel nobody is listening. Maybe I should keep a dyno printout with it at stuff like this. Its clearly no exotic, nor were the other cars around it that they were having a poke at, but this event doesn't seem to bring in just exotics. However, if that is the goal I have no problem keeping to the specator area!
All in all though, I think the vast majority of the folks are great. Many of the people with the higher ends cars that I have spoken with at the past events C&C events and some of them that I see at other venues (up at BIR or at other driving events) are more than courteous. I am just disappointed when I hear people belittling the hard work and pride of others for no particular reason (it wasn't just my car that was being slammed), but it does make me appreciate those who do appreciate all varieties of car enthusiasts that much more!
/rant - sorry 'bout that ;)

Ya,
I have had the GTIR for a while now, and i had it listed local for sale but no local takers could round up the cash. its difficult to get a loan for a gray market vehicle i guess.
I think the car will be sold soon, i got a deposit for a guy in arizona that said he will pick up up within 2 weeks... but we will see.
Thought i would at least bring it out one last time.
Thanks.
Matt's vid is up!
Enjoy.

That's why I appreciate competitive events like autocross. People know not to talk bs because the results speak for themselves. I'm sure that guy did a huge burnout when he left to prove that he is the man. :flame:

 I'm sure he would have called me a ricer if I showed up in the Honda....

Probably the same guy I overheard going on about how the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 was pretty much the best performance tire in the whole wide world. I got a chuckle out of that.

You got a problem with Ricers? You people in your fancy Honda's really have some nerve.

maybe it's just me, but doing 165 on a public road even for only a short while seems insane. All it takes is an animal jumping out into the road or a car merging into your lane and you're both done for.

I agree with you there. Not the smartest thing to do.

You haven't seen our car this year. New for 2009: Big wing and a fahrt can exhaust. Thank goodness I found the silencer in the exhaust box.

Let see... video of the car doing 165mph on a public road... an interview from the driver/owner touting the 700hp and essentially owning up to the high speed stunt... nice "B-Roll" from Matt Desmond of the car and license plate... and the date and location of the stunt.
Hmmmm.... Maybe TMI? Way to send Marty away for life Matt! 8)
Phoenix police impounded a Lambo and took the drivers license away for a similar stunt in Mesa.
Oh that reminds me... don't miss AMW this Saturday nite?

I sent Marty, Matt and Luis a personal email suggesting they take the video down and re-edit it leaving the stunt on the cutting room floor. We don't need anyone getting arrested, trying to duplicate the stunt, or giving our passion for performance cars a bad name.
High speed is for the track, not public roads.

Comptech is sitting in the garage... I liked it. Jocelin thought it was too quiet.
