...but I just had a very interesting experience that took my mind back 3 years to hanging out in Paul's garage watching Pat Washburn teach us how to do alignment without special equipment. That day was a great deal of fun, and it was cool of Paul to host us.

I was just knocking around Jalopnik.com (http://www.jalopnik.com) for the very first time and they have a section called Project Car Hell (PCH) where 2 project cars are pitted against each other in a comments-driven contest to see which one would be most painful according to readers. Apparently there was a special edition of PCH where the writer talked about the Sprite he just bought (http://jalopnik.com/tag/project-car-hell/?id=5157759). That by itself was enough to make me think of Paul, but then I clicked on a link and found myself looking at a contest between a SAAB Sonett vs an Opel GT (http://jalopnik.com/tag/opel/?id=5158291). Getting those two cars in random links back to back was very strange, almost eerie.

Like I said, I never knew Paul well, but we would always banter about his Sprite. I remember trying to sit in it once and only making it about half-way in before I bailed... there is NO way a guy my size would fit. After that I felt compelled to pick on it, even though (when it was running) it (i.e. Paul) usually kicked my butt at events, and he was always a good sport about it.

So, here's to odd coincidence and old friends, cool cars and sentimental moments in the middle of the night and good memories of good people.
