As most of you should be aware, MAC will be offering two SoloPro Comp Schools in '09 for advanced-level instruction. These schools will be held July 25 & 26 at Chippewa Valley Technical College, and will be run by former National champions (and top-flight instructors) Tim Aro and Jinx Jordan. The purpose of this thread is to identify how many drivers plan to attend one of the Comp Schools, so we can determine how many instructors to request. The cost will be $250 for a one day school. Here's a description of the curriculum:
In the Comp class you'll understand and learn how to maximize your cars potential. Advanced concepts, driving techniques, and car control skills will be emphasized throughout the day. Students will actually participate in at least 2 autocrosses on different courses during the day while receiving one-on-one personalized guidance the entire time. It's like having your own personal autocross coach instructing you all the way to the top! Beat the instructors times and you may be rewarded with a prize on the podium at the conclusion of the day.
Reinforces basic fundamentals
Multiple course configurations
Compete in two autocrosses - two different courses
Advanced driving techniques and strategies
Advanced psychological/mental concepts and strategiesThere are no set pre-requisites for the Comp School. However, we recommend a minimum two years of local autocross experience, plus some Divisional/National level experience and/or completion of Evolution Phase 1 training to get the most value from this school.

Any other drivers interested in these schools? Unless the interest level significantly increases, we'll only book two instructors, which means a total of 20 available spots.

Unfortunately my mom's talking about getting married that weekend. Not that I'm not happy for her, but I hope she'll choose a different time to do it...

I just read top post 250 is more then I want to spend this year.
We'll be there unless I have to move hundreds of miles away for work....

If there isn't a huge call for the comp school, is there any chance you could change it to the intro class one day and the comp class the other day?
I've only got one season in, and I think the intro class would be a better fit for me. Maybe there are other people out there like me?

No chance. We haven't had an advanced class for two years, and we specifically created an Intermediate School for drivers like you. Note: you'll also have the opportunity for a personal coaching session with Pat or Neal at the Test & Tunes.

I just saw the MAC intermediate schools listed in the meeting minutes. Perfect!
I'm happy.
Now another year to get decent, and I can see if next year offers the same kind of awesome co-driver opportunities that this year seems to have an abundance of.
I will be out of the country in early June and part of July but I intend on attending if my schedule permits.

One day course and well worth it! Check it out at

....if you haven't yet. From what I know, you will get way more out of this Comp school than at a Phase 2 ...they are different. Plus the option of using Rach Tech data logging.

ohh really... humm... welp is there a sign up list somewhere or is this purely a gaining intrest thread ? i see on there site they offer an intro course an a comp course... would this deal in july just be based on the comp course like mentioned above ? personally if im going to make the trip id rather spend the extra money and make a weekend outta it... but if its just a 1 day deal thats cool too, either way i just wanna learn more..
EDIT N/M i see on there site they are only offering the comp class in our area...

As noted earlier in this thread, we're offering two one-day Comp Schools. Each day is identical, so it only makes sense to register for one day.
Registration will open 60 days in advance, as with all other MAC driving schools.
Online registration for Saturday (http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEventDetail.Show?psevent_id=9749)
Online registration for Sunday (http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEventDetail.Show?psevent_id=9750)

Very likely I won't be able to attend as a student (I'm poor this year). Since it's right in my back yard though, I'd be happy to help with course-work and/or tech. If my help is needed, whom should I contact?

The school does not rely on volunteer help so much, so there probably isn't much to do. Maybe Steve will tell me wrong. Best thing to help is to drum up some more business. If we want this kind fo education to seeing thorugh our neighborhood, we need to fill up the classes.

Nope - very little help required for these events.

Bringing this back up, with some new incentives .... :)
SoloPro has a couple speed partners in Hoosiers Racing Tires and Race Technology. There will discount certificates available to a certain number of students. I will save the details about how and how many, but they are nice!

That's up to Tim and Jinx, but it will be fun and fair. Maybe a little competition at the Comp school? :)

Steve,
Is Mac's allocation 10 students per day and Chippewa has another 10? Or is it 10 total including both clubs?

It's actually 12 total students per day. I'm thinking about opening this one up a bit earlier, to ensure both sessions fill.
