Pre-awards banquet ProKart Enduro sign-up

Hi All,

There's been some interest in another 1 hour enduro before the awards banquet. I talked it over with Tim, and here's what we came up with;

Jan 10 @ 4:00 $30.00 per person (try to get there by 3:15-3:20 for weigh in & team assignments). We'll run for 1 hour (should be 160-180 laps). Teams will be assigned the day of (i.e. no "ringer" teams set up ahead of time). Last year each team had an "anchor" member (someone who has been running some of the MAC kart leagues), and the rest of the members were drawn from a hat.

This should still get everyone on their way with time to get to the banquet in time, so sign up here, we need a min of 24, a max of 30;

Has anyone started putting any thought into how the teams will be paired? or will that be done the day of?

Tim at Prokarts asked John Mensch to divide the participants into three groups. Group A, recent fast kart drivers. Group B, drivers with recent kart experience, former kart experience, or really fast autocrossers. Group C, others. Group A will be team leaders and each team will be composed of one randomly chosen Group B and Group C driver.

Follow up question: Is this thing planned out to pretty much end right in time to head over to the banquet? My girlfriend doesnt want to hang around for the enduro (understandably), but is coming to the banquet... is it possible to run up to the city to get her after the enduro and make it back to Apple Valley in time?

I guess the simplified question would be: Do these things tend to start right at 4pm, and end right at 5? or should i expect to be at prokarts past 5?

Burnsville is correct. Event starts at 4:00, might shoot to be there by 3:45.

I took the general advice given by you guys and did 41 laps before the enduro to get the hang of things. At the end of the day I probably did 90 laps, I came out with 4 more bruises then I came in this but it was a really fun day and I hope it happens again next year. Thanks for putting this together John! :D

Well the doctor made it official today. The clicking in my chest is two ends of a broken rib rubbing together. First lap, second stint I hit the pit barrier unusually hard. I'm pretty sure that was the moment of breakage.

I'm told 4-8 weeks to heal. I hope that is right, it seems like Pat has been taking a lot longer than that. The treatment is rest and pain killers. I don't understand how it is going to set and heal unless I get it to stop moving.

The second time I cracked a rib at ProKarts, I was wearing one of those $20 rib protectors.

We were down a lap after the first 10 laps, Eric then got "dialed" in, Larry as well, both were within tenths of the leader. Then with 50 laps to go the motor was going while Larry was driving. I had to climbed into a "cold" cart, first few laps required warming the tires. Tim (the guy running the show) told me our cart was about to blow and get into the cold one and go. I ran more laps just because our cart was about to blowup. Also Randy REALLY likes it when oil is put down on the track, it gets VERY stickey.

Driver change time was quick for that one. Dave was waved off as soon as Larry came to a stop, no 10 second clock. How long was Larry in the car before it done blowed?

I don't have an exact figure, but it seemed like about seven minutes.

Larry also said he was noticeably down on power for a couple laps right at the end of that stint, so it was probably blown well before he pulled in.
