I'm looking for a Miata.
1st choice is a 99 sport model.
2nd choice is a 1.6 first gen Miata.
I'm looking for a Miata with low miles and in nice shape! NO RUST!
Steve Jones, do you still have one?

Stephen Jones's Miata is a nicely setup car. . . probably faster than my 99 sport before I add the front antiroll bar.
If you want a '99 sport I would try AutoTrader.com on a regular basis or better yet the SCCAforums website and the miata.net classifieds. Find a 99 sport that is already set up with a front bar, shocks, and an extra set of rims if possible. There is one on one of those two pages going for $12,000 (which sounds like a lot ) but it already has double adjustable shocks.

Darryl,
Does this mean the RX7 is sold?
If so will the buyer still AX it?
Good luck on joining the "Cute car" club

Adam and Paul,
We will leave the cute car's to Paul!! Don't try to pull Miata's into the cute car class.
Yes, I still own the Rx-7 and it's still for sale.
I look at Miata.net daily but most of the cars seem higher than they should be. Same with autotrader.com and carsoup.com.
Chris B has me covered in Iowa and has called me about a couple base model Miata's he came accross this weekend.
Keep your eye's open.

Hi Darryl,
I still have my Miata. I've been kicking around the idea of selling it since it rarely gets driven anymore. It's such a sweet car I really hate to get rid of it but it deserves to be driven not parked.
It's a red '95 (1.8L) with the PEP package. It's got Koni SA's, RB front bar, Borla cat-back exhaust, K&N filter, Magnecor wires, Porterfield pads. Torsen rear diff. Agressive alignment. Mobil 1 synthetic since new every 3000 miles in the engine. Redline in the trans & diff changed every year.
It's got in the neighborhood of 46,000 miles on it. Stored indoors and covered Nov to May every year since new. The rear window developed a 1 inch crack last year (finally) so I bought a new top for it but have not installed it yet.
It is in great condition other than a couple small door knocks and a few rock chips up front. I just took off the Kuhmo Victos this fall (Chris B wants then) and replaced them with new Dunlop SP 8000 street tires.
If you have National aspirations then you should hold out for a '99 Sport or a new club sport. This car can still dominate regionally and in the right hands on the right course can still be competitive divisionally.
I don't know what book is on it but I've always believed a car is worth whatever someone will pay for it. I'm not looking to give it away but will consider reasonable and fair offers.
BTW, don't fall for that cute car crap. Properly set up and driven these cars are weapons and will give just about anything a run for they're money.
Car is in Duluth. Make me an offer.
Hey Adam, front bar only?, don't make me take this thing out of retirement and make you work for it!

Steve
I already have a good alignment and wires, and I now have Kumhos, a front bar, and Konis so it will be set. K&N filters are not all they are cracked up to be, but a light exhaust system would be nice. Still I think a 99 sport with a big bar up front and an alignment being the only change would be quicker than a first gen. The Bilsteins are decent and the extra power helps. The second gen definitely needs the front bar.
If you beg to differ Steve, bring it on baby, you know I love the competition!
Are we going to co-drive this year so I can experience that fabulous M car this year?

Adam,
Steve sold the Miata to Harry #/\*##** at the last minute. Harry's wanted to buy the Miata for over a year from Steve. The M will end up in CSP for the 2004 season. It will be fun seeing Harry burn up the course this year.
Me, I'll keep looking.
99 sport is still top on the list.
Harry, no sour grapes but a co-drive would be nice!!

So is Harry selling the M edition now?
Jon,
I will be selling the M in the near future. I plan on returning it back to stock. I couldn't see stripping everything off of it to build a proper CSP car. Steve's car is a better platform for CSP than the M Edition.
Darryl, sorry for scamming on you. Steve made me sweat overnight. What an SOB! I had to write a second check after he tore up the first one! I bugged Steve for 2 years before he gave in. (I will have to enroll him in grief counseling.) I wrote a check over a year ago which he also tore up!
Don't be concerned about this "cute" garbage. Driven properly, the car is as "cute" as a rabid wolverine chewing on your posterior.

Harry,
No scam (or was it). I told him if does to sell it to you, you deserved a sleepless night!!
You have my respect forever Steve!! Whoa........
I'm looking at the 99 Miata with Sport package at lunch tomorrow.

In 1997 Erik campaigned the RX-7 in a Pro class on an index and finished 5th overall. The car has raced many times at Blackhawk Farms and turns consistent 1:33 from a Standing Start. The Vehicle entered the VSCDA Drivers school in 1996 at BHF and is eligible to compete in VSCDA vintage racing events. This car has never seen snow and has rarely been caught in the rain. Over 14,000 dollars has been invested in this car. In 2001 I purchased the Mazda Rx-7 and campaigned the Rx-7 in both 2002 and 2003 seasons with Minnesota Autocross Club (MAC), Des Moines DMVR SCCA, and the BMW club. I entered the Rx-7 in 8 regional events winning 6 events and was the 2002 E-stock Champion. 2003 the car remained stock but was entered in E prepared finishing 2nd. The car is in heated storage for the winter.
Email me at dwrolson@yellowjacket.com for pictures.
From the MAC home page click on the Scrapbook, then Pic's of Board Memebers' cars. It's number 100 at the bottom of the page.
This is a great car with zero rust.
