Anyone plan on going to Winona this weekend? I'm not signed up for M9, so this might be the only other event I could attend this year.

TnT Saturday, Event Sunday.
I was considering talking to some friends for a river valley run, but doing this (maybe both) might be more fun...

Nope. Going to Milwaukee for the SCCA event on Sunday, instead.

How do you register for this event as a nonmember? do you just do it there in the morning?

If you're talking about Winona, just show up. It's a very laid back atmosphere, vastly different from MAC events. You can expect lots of runs and an early end time.

Might do that too, if I can find a paxable ride since I'm in the hunt for Pro championship there. (Sorry Larry...I wasn't hinting for an offer. While your car is exceptional fun to drive, and can win the class, I will need to hunt down something that will index well. No offense!)

No offence taken! But you should ask John Mensch how my car feels *now*. Steve Sulatycki of Zzyzx stopped by on Wednesday at Nats and had some suggestions for the issues we've been fighting this year. We've made those changes and it's a different car. That said, it's not a "top PAX" ride in Milwaukee. (Good for 10th in PAX at MOWOG 7 on Saturday, though, and 7 of the 9 drivers that PAX'ed ahead of me are national trophy winners.)
Hope to see you in Milwaukee!

I think is a wonderful sign of the times that we HAVE 7 national trophy winners at a MAC event. Not that many years ago we would have 1 or 2.

And at least two more national trophy winners and a national champion behind me. So at least 10 MAC national trophy winners at MOWOG 7.

I will be there both days in my '69 Chevelle, and a friend is bringing a '67 Chevelle wagon on Saturday...
I'm a newbie at this, so forgive me if I do anything stupid. :D

Cool...that would be fun to watch!!!
Just be a little careful. There is no safe runoff areas....just grassy ditches and fences. So keep your car beautiful by driving within your means. Have fun...wish I could see them!

You won't get as many runs as a mac TNT, Usually at their TNT you get 8-12 runs

From their flyer:
"The Sports Car Club of La Crosse is going to let the first 20 Novice drivers into our October 11th event for FREE."
and
"A novice driver has run not more than 3 solo events with the Sports Car Club of La Crosse."
I guess this is the only possible way I could qualify as a "Novice" these days :D
BTW, I have no idea how close they are to filling the 20 free spots...

Unfortunately, I can't stay very long on Saturday. :( How many runs should I expect to get in by about 12:30? I'll be there early, but TnT doesn't begin until 10:30 according to the flyer.

You have to work the heats you're not running. You can't just show up, run, and leave. Someone has to pick up cones for the people driving. Usually they run heats and then swap.

Like was already said, us driver usually work for each other. Here's their website...maybe you can contact someone to find out if arrangements can be made.

Having never been to an autocross before, I'll also invite youto take a look at the Kate Hughes Novice Handbook. Good reading there.

I'll also invite you to the Minnesota Autosports Club Novice School. It's not until Spring, but you are welcome. Watch for announcements. Might also be a good idea to check out MOWOG 9 being held at Midway Stadium. G , watch, talk to people...you'll learn a lot. Good luck!

Sadly, from what I've heard, they have had a hard time getting many people to show this year. There is a good chance they may not fill the 20 free spots.

Well I wouldn't mind taking a "novice" spot.
After poking around their forums quick, they appear to be VERY dead online, atleast the scclac forum.
Josh, it appears to be a register when you get there event only, so as long as those of us who would qualify as newbies got there before 20 others who would, we'd be in.
I'm leaning towards going at this point, if anyone wants to convoy down, speak up and anyone going could figure something out...
May come on Sunday if I can be arsed to get up that early

Ok, who's still interested? I'm mainly looking for pure seat time with my Dunlops as I haven't had enough. I'd prob only go one day, and Saturday would be it for sure due to weather, and how it would go down most likely.
A little run around Pepin, in stockholm etc would be fun on the way home as well..
EDIT: Anyone want to meet up and head down together, or maybe even co-drive?

http://scclac.org/Thanks, I talked to Jeremy, and made arrangements for Saturday... I hope nobody gets upset about it, but I should be around all day on Sunday to work unless it's raining. Unfortunately, my friend with the '67 wagon has backed out, so I'll be there alone.

No problem. Dan Hampton is a friend of mine (he's usually pretty involved in running the events down there). Just tell him you've never done this before and he'll give you lots of help. Tell him Pat Washburn says HI.

I had a great time. 8) I will definitely do it again next year.
I'm happy with the way the car performed, it just needs a better driver.
